About this Property

Set in lush gardens amid forest and crystal-clear waters on the slopes of Mount Meru, Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to relax and simmer in the immense beauty of East Africa. The Lodge has been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse built in the early 20th century and it is one of the oldest family lodges in Arusha.

It offers 10 Garden Rooms, 2 Main House Suites and a Farm Cottage with 3 bedrooms. Ngare Sero has been providing personal service for its residents since 1974. Here you can spend the days amid nature, watching the changing colors of the Kilimanjaro glaciers while sipping drinks on the verandah or hiking in the forest inhabited by colobus and Sykes monkeys as well as hundreds of small animal and bird species.

The Lodge is located only 30 minutes (20 km) away from Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha town centre and it is a perfect base while on safari in northern Tanzania.

Garden Rooms:

Our 10 Garden Rooms are nested in the tranquil gardens with the beautiful views of bougainvillea and jacaranda from private verandas. Eight of the rooms offer king-size Zanzibar beds and the other two rooms are furnished with twin beds. Interiors are individually decorated with ethnic fabrics and handmade furniture like study tables and the ottoman sofas that on request can be used as a third single bed. Each room has an en-suite toilet, a bath tub and a dressing room.

Main House Suite:

The Main House Suite features a bedroom and a sitting room that has a comfortable farmhouse feel with Afgan rugs and wooden floorboards creaking under foot, decorated with the family collection of paintings and handmade furniture. This suite has a private balcony with a spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro as well as the mirror-surfaced lake and a forest.

Pool Cottage Suites

These two adjoined suites are located in the Pool Cottage, overlooking the pool and the forest. The cottage with patio and private garden is surrounded by a bougainvillea fence and tall trees. The Round Room with six meters ceiling and earthy red walls, has an open bath. The Oval Room has two bathrooms, and is wheel-chair friendly.
