5 Days Zanzibar Island Tour

Zanzibar is located in the Indian Ocean, just 25 km off the coast of mainland Tanzania. It is famed for its historical Stone Town and stunning beaches. We will take you to interesting tours to the House of Wonders, Palace Museums, Mosques and Arab’s Fort, Jozani Forest, Mnemba Island among many others. There will be a visit to spice plantations, the reason that brought the Sultans of Oman, and what started the slave trade. You will also indulge in the white sands and clear waters of Nungwi Beach for that much deserved holiday.
Itinerary
Day 1: Airport Pick-up and Transfer to Hotel
You will be picked up from the airport for your transfer to Zanzibar Stone Town, the old city and cultural heart of Zanzibar. This place had minimal change in the last 200 years hence your chance to experience its well-preserved heritage and exotic antiquity. You will stay at Tembo House Hotel equipped with a swimming pool among other amenities such as WiFi and television.
Day 2: City Tour & The Rock Restaurant
09:00 you will pick up with our guide to do a stone town tour takes around the historical culture and architectural important town of Zanzibar with a century history.
It includes a visit to former slave market site, now stands as Anglican church built in 1871, town market, visit the Zanzibar Memorial Museum, House of Wonder built in 1883 (Beit Al Ajab), old Arab Fort, Palace Museum, Old Indian Dispensary (cultural centre) at 2:00pm transfer to North or East coast hotel via Maruhubi Palace ruins, Living Stone House, after tour transfer back to your hotel to change clothes ‘there after you will have a transport to The Rock restaurant you will be there at 1800hrs after dinner your resort and overnight.
Day 3: Mnemba Island
Morning, after breakfast you will meet our guide who will take to start point, today you will do Mnemba Atoll is a protected oceanic area off northeastern Zanzibar near Matemwe with excellent visibility depths ranging from ten to thirty meters. It includes the small triangular island of Mnemba and a reef area comprising of two by four miles. This breathtaking marine ecosystem is famous for sightings of green turtles and dolphins that like to join you as you snorkel or dive while the seasonal migrating whale sharks and humpback whales announce their presence with an occasional spout of water. On your dive tour of Zanzibar, you will learn of the five main diving locales around Mnemba. Kichwani with its many shaded fish like leaf fish, frogfish and nudibranchs are perfect for both beginners and advance PADI divers. A gentle incline of the coral wall, it slopes till thirty meters. And if you were to visit the Sand Banks while diving on your Indian Ocean Island holiday in Zanzibar, you could spot eagle rays, frogfish, batfish, seahorses and snappers among others. Then there is the Aquarium where you will find garden eels, white tip reef sharks, green turtles, groupers and surgeonfish to name a few.
Wattabomi also called Eel City is also suitable for all levels of divers and offers glimpses of anthias, moray eels, lionfish, scorpion fish and many more. Veteran divers can try their skills at the Small Wall and be rewarded with sightings of Spanish dancers, napoleon wrasse, sting rays and also the butterfly fish that are native to this location but usually challenging to spot. Octopi, moray eels, egg cowries and other marine life await your discovery at Kokota Reef, Back to your hotel departure to Jambiani via spice tour.
You will be driven northwards through the countryside passing villages such as Bububu, Kijichi and Kizimbani to experience why Zanzibar is known as the Spice Island.
The wonderful nature of this Island will reveal frequent stops on small farms of cash crops, food crops, spices, flowering trees and plants, medical trees and varieties of mints. You will be able to see, touch and even taste some of the spices and fruits available. The tour is abundant with the mud houses thatched using palm leaves, fruit garden and tropical scenery. There after drop to Jambiani.

Day 4: Jozani Forest / Prison Island
0900am You will be pick up with our guide to Jozani. The Jozani Forest cover an area approx. 1000 hectares and is most famous for its inhabitants the Sykes monkey and the rare Red Colobus monkeys that are endemic to Zanzibar. After the tour proceeding to stone town to the start point to Prison island
The Prison Island or Changuu Island is the middle Island of three visible from the Stone Town. The prison on list its Island was built in 1893. Historically this small Island was used as a point of concealment of slaves later becomes a temporary hospital and a quarantine Island especially during the outbreak of contagious disease in the last century.
In the 1820s Sultan Said brought a number of giant’s tortoise from Seychelles to Changuu Island. Even today you can see them. Many different birds can be seen. The Island itself is endowed in natural features with pure white sandy beaches for swimming and the colorful coral reef for snorkeling.
A 35 minutes boat trip takes you out to this Island resort where you can enjoy a few hours or stay for a full day. Meet the captain under the big tree in Forodhani Park. The tour is available twice daily: Morning 12:30 to 16:00 after you will be drop back to Hotel.
Transfer: Hotel/Jozani Forest/Stone Town and back to Hotel.
Day 5: Departure / Airport
On your last day, enjoy the rest of your stay by relaxing in the pool or in the beach while taking in as much sunshine as you can. Have a hefty breakfast and don’t forget to stroll along the white sands of Nungwi and to take photos for your loved ones. In the afternoon, you will meet our drive/guide who will drive you to Airport for your flight back home.
Departure Instructions
Please note that the Zanzibar Island Tour – 5 Days ends at Zanzibar International Airport. (Advice departure time).
