It is advised to bring cash if you are coming to Uganda. Only large business establishments take Visa or credit cards. So check in advance in lodges or restaurants if you have plans to pay in credit cards. Please note: US dollars bills issued before 1999 are NOT accepted in Uganda.

What is the best time to travel to Uganda?

East African climate varies, making it more difficult to predict the weather during your safari. Still, some particular weather is felt most of the year. From December to March and from June to September are normally considered the best to travel Uganda. These months offer the dry season with July and August, receives the most number of tourists. October- November and April-May experience the most rain-falls. The advantage of the wet seasons is the easy availability of gorilla permits. Uganda experiences an average temperature between 23°C to 27°C. The nights are quite cool and sun shines during the day. So overall, the temperature is steady and pleasant. You may have to share bathroom facilities. Mid-range or luxury- 3-star, 4-star and 5-star accommodation with comfortable rooms or luxury safari tents with a private bathroom. Flush toilets and hot and cold running water are available. Mosquito nets will be provided where necessary.
