Mt. Kilimanjaro Trek – Lemosho Route 6 Days

Trip Introduction

Lemosho is the most scenic trail on Kilimanjaro, with panoramic vistas of the mountain. It’s a newer route, ideal for climbers who want low crowds, beautiful scenery, and high success rates. Most of our clients choose this route and recommend it. The climb starts at Londorossi Gate, at 2360m, to the west of the mountain. It circles around Kilimanjaro southwards, through rainforests where unique wildlife can be seen, and continues to the third summit at Shira Ridge. Climb Kilimanjaro via Lemosho for a memorable, less crowded, and successful experience.

Lemosho 6 or 7-day route is recommended for experienced hikers, requiring good fitness.

Passing underneath, the Heim and Kersten glaciers, we head towards the Karanga valley, which is our last stop for fresh water before the summit. Scree now forms the terrain as we walk through arid and desolate land towards Barafu camp.

On arriving at camp, we eat and spend the evening resting as we prepare for a long night and day ahead. The summit is now a further 1342m up and you will make the final ascent tonight. Prepare your equipment, ski stick and thermal clothing for your summit attempt. This should include the replacement of your headlamp and camera batteries and make sure you have a spare set available as well. To prevent freezing it will be wise to carry your water in a thermal flask.
