5 Days Safari Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve)

Itinerary

Day 0: Arrival in Tanzania- Dar es Salaam (Optional)

If you have chosen to be picked-up by us from Julius Kambarage Nyerere International Airport, you will be picked up from the airport by a Kilele Climb representative and conveyed to your accommodation in Dar es Salaam where you will overnight, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the adventures to come, restore and enjoy your first taste of Africa.

Day 1: Dar es salaam to Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve)

• Distance & Drive time: Dar es Salaam to Selous takes about 4 to 5 hours (230 km/142mi)

In the morning at 0830hrs pick up from your hotel in Dr es salaam/ Airport and travel to Selous Game Reserve. You will have a picnic lunch on the way and travel on to arrive in Selous in the late afternoon. This is a 5-hour drive and upon arrival, you will do your first game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight at your lodge/campsite

Day 2: Walking & Boat Excursion in Selous

•  Distance & Drive Time: Fully Day Excursion

After breakfast launch, a walking trip in the wilderness accompanied by an armed ranger guide to getting close to the animals. You will have a picnic lunch in the bush and there after lunch transfer to Rufiji for an afternoon boat excursion, you will reach the Rufiji River that runs through Selous game reserve which you will explore by boat. It is approximately 600 kilometers (370mi) long and here you will see plentiful hippos and crocodiles. The big herds of Tanzanian Elephants are also attracted by the River Rufiji that flows through the reserve

There is nothing quite like the serenity of the river while the sun dips below the horizon. Evening as the sun goes down the drive will take you back to your accommodation for dinner experience and overnight.

Day 3: Full day in Selous Game reserve

•  Distance & Drive Time: Fully Day game drive

Breakfast in your accommodation followed by both morning and afternoon game drives in the reserve Selous is home to a large population of elephants, a big number of buffalos, and wild dogs. other species commonly seen are lion, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, eland, baboon, zebra, kudus, and crocodile. You will have all meals and overnight at the same lodge /camp.

Day 4: Sunrise and Sunset in Selous Game reserve

• Distance & Drive Time: Fully Day game drive

Wake up at 0600hrs for early morning game viewing and Sunrise in Selous game Reserve, at 0900hrs drive back to your accommodation for breakfast. After breakfast rest and relax at leisure in your accommodation waiting for lunch. Evening at 1530hrs proceed with game drives and enjoy the sunset as it goes down, you will have all meals and overnight in your lodge/ campsite.

Day 5: Selous Game Reserve to Dar es salaam

• Distance & Drive time: Selous to Dar es Salaam takes about 4 to 5 hours (230 km/142mi)

In the morning you can make another game drive or walking safari in the reserve, depending on your accommodation and flight. Then your driver transfers you to the airport for your departure flight.

This is the last leg of your safari, with a 4hrs drive left to where your safari will end. With an incredible experience and loads of memories to cherish, this is the time you say goodbye to your safari crew.
