Embark on a onceinalifetime adventure with our 13Day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route & Best Northern Tanzania Safari. Conquer Africa’s highest freestanding mountain via the scenic Lemosho Route, renowned for its breathtaking vistas, gradual ascent, and high summit success rates. After standing proudly on Uhuru Peak, transition into a 4day safari across northern Tanzania’s legendary parks. Witness vast elephant herds in Tarangire, descend into the wildliferich Ngorongoro Crater, and explore the endless plains of the Serengeti, home to over three million large mammals. This journey blends adrenaline, discovery, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our team greets you and transfers you to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha. This day is dedicated to preparation and anticipation. You’ll meet your professional mountain guide for a detailed pretrek briefing, covering the Lemosho Route, acclimatization strategies, and safety protocols. Equipment checks ensure you’re fully prepared, with rental gear available if needed. The evening is yours to relax, enjoy a hearty dinner, and soak in the excitement of the adventure ahead.
After breakfast, drive to Londorosi Gate for registration, then continue to Lemosho Glade. Begin trekking through pristine montane forest, alive with blackandwhite colobus monkeys and exotic birds. The trail ascends gently, offering glimpses of towering trees and lush vegetation. By late afternoon, arrive at Big Tree Camp, where dinner and overnight await. This first day sets the tone for the climb, balancing challenge with natural beauty and the thrill of entering Kilimanjaro’s wilderness.
Wake early for a steady ascent across valleys and ridges. Trek into Shira Caldera, a highaltitude desert formed by volcanic activity. The landscape is dramatic, with eroded rims and lava flows from Kibo Peak. Stop for lunch en route, then continue to Shira 1 Camp, where dinner and overnight await. This day builds endurance and acclimatization, preparing you for higher altitudes while immersing you in Kilimanjaro’s geological wonders.
Trek east across the Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro’s most scenic areas. Visit Cathedral Peak for acclimatization, enjoying spectacular views of Mount Meru and Kibo Peak. Continue to Shira 2 Camp, where dinner and overnight await. This day emphasizes acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to altitude while offering unforgettable panoramas.
A crucial acclimatization day. Trek east to Lava Tower (4,600m), where lunch is served. This highaltitude stop strengthens your body’s adaptation to thinner air. Descend to Barranco Camp, nestled beneath the Barranco Wall. Dinner and overnight here, with dramatic scenery surrounding you.
Begin with a climb up the Barranco Wall, reaching 4,200m for acclimatization. Continue across ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp, where hot lunch awaits. Afternoon acclimatization hikes strengthen your summit readiness. Dinner and overnight at camp.
Trek across alpine desert to Barafu Camp. The short distance is steep, requiring a slow pace. Strong winds sweep down from Kibo Peak, adding to the challenge. Arrive by afternoon, rest, and prepare for the midnight summit attempt. Dinner is served early, followed by rest.
Wake at midnight for a light breakfast before beginning the summit push. Ascend steep switchbacks to Stella Point, reaching the crater rim at dawn. Continue to Uhuru Peak, the “Roof of Africa,” arriving for sunrise over glaciers and endless plains. Celebrate with photos before descending to Barafu for rest and lunch, then onward to Mweka Camp for overnight recovery.
After breakfast, descend through montane forest to Mweka Gate. Sign out and receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi for a celebratory evening.
Drive to Tarangire, a 2.5–3 hour journey. Spend the day on safari in Tanzania’s thirdlargest park, famous for giant baobabs and massive elephant herds. Spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, and over 500 bird species. Picnic lunch inside the park keeps you energized. Overnight at lodge inside the park.
Travel via highlands to Serengeti. By midday, reach the plains of Serengeti National Park. Explore diverse habitats and witness the Great Migration depending on season. Overnight at lodge/campsite in Seronera.
Morning game drive in Serengeti before departing for Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive by afternoon and settle into your lodge on the crater rim. Dinner and overnight with breathtaking views.
Rise early for a descent into Ngorongoro Crater. Spend 5 hours exploring this wildliferich caldera, spotting elephants, buffalo, rhinos, lions, and more. Picnic lunch at the hippo pool adds charm to the day. Ascend back to the rim and drive 3.5–4 hrs to Arusha. Dropoff at Kilimanjaro Airport or your hotel by evening. Drive Time: 3.5–4 hrs (158 km)
