The park takes its name from the Tarangire River, which serves as the primary water source for wildlife during the dry season. Its diverse landscapes include acacia woodlands, giant baobabs, and expansive swamps in the south, all of which attract an abundance of animals.

Tarangire is often called the “Elephant Paradise”, but it is also home to giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, leopards, cheetahs, elands, impalas, oryx, buffalo, and even rock pythons. Bird enthusiasts will find hundreds of migratory species here, making it one of Tanzania’s most rewarding safari destinations.
