Kilimanjaro Cycling Day Tour-Shira Plateau

Kilimanjaro Cycling Day Tour

Duration: 11 Hours

This thrilling day tour is designed for mountain bikers seeking a challenge on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. The ride takes you through diverse habitats — from lush forest zones to the heath and moorland — with opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. On clear days, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Kibo Peak from the Shira Plateau.

The Shira Mountain Bike Route begins on Kilimanjaro’s western side, following a 4×4 track (approx. 15 km) from Londorosi Gate (2,100 m) up to Shira Ridge (3,600 m), covering the Shira Plateau. The trail runs parallel to the Lemosho hiking route. Expect dirt and gravel roads, loose rocks, mud, and continuous uphill climbs — conditions that will test your fitness and biking skills. After heavy rains, sections can become very muddy, requiring some bike pushing.
