Kikuletwa Hot Springs Day Tour

“Chemka” means bubbling or boiling — a fitting name for this enchanting mineral spring fed by underground waters from Mount Kilimanjaro. The crystal-clear pool, framed by towering fig and palm trees, offers a refreshing swim at around 26°C. Visitors can snorkel, sunbathe, or simply relax in the shade, making it one of Tanzania’s most serene natural retreats.
Located about 40 km from Moshi (roughly a 1-hour drive), the springs are hidden within lush forest and surrounded by African scrubland. The pond is deep (up to 10 meters) yet so transparent that you can always see the bottom. It’s an ideal spot for swimming, picnicking, or even camping overnight. With luck, you may spot playful monkeys in the treetops above.

Day 1
Moshi – Kikuletwa Hot Springs – Moshi
- Pickup from your hotel at 09:00 hrs.
- Scenic drive past sugarcane plantations, baobab and acacia trees, and dried riverbeds.
- Arrive at Kikuletwa Hot Springs near Rundugai village. Spend the day swimming in turquoise waters, relaxing under fig trees, or chatting with locals at the small bar.
- Picnic lunch at noon.
- Return to Moshi in the late afternoon (around 17:00 hrs).
Time at the springs: Approximately 8 hours of leisure and exploration.
